Back in Mr. Doberman's time, the crime rate was quite high and there was a need for a tougher, meaner dog to protect the owner and his property. The cause of this disease is usually due to a toxic bacteria, however since there are so many cases of Doberman Pinschers getting the disease, experts suspect it is hereditary. Doberman Pinscher Breeders are working hard to try and weed out this disease, but this has proven to be difficult as one in three Doberman Pinscher Dogs are likely to get the disease.
