In memory of Sally--use caution

by Sue
(Morehead City, NC)

We had a beautiful black Lab named Sally. Her elbow became very painful over a weekend and our vet was closed. We went to a local emergency Vet service and were prescribed Rimadyl (Pfizer) for her. After 10 days of using the medicine she was dead of liver failure.

Please be more careful than we used to be. Do research and ask questions. You might save your dog.

Homeopahty for pets and people too
by: Starwolf

Hi Sue

I own a mega library that I refer to so for reference you can find good books on homeopathy for pets at Amazon and elsewhere online. I love Dr Pitcairn's book as he is well known in the alternative health field.

The remedies are the same we use for all animals and humans. I try to find alcohol free for animals but sometimes the remedy is not available. If you choose to vaccinate again, as I said...we don't...use Thuja homeopathy remedy as it prevents reactions to vaccines.

Some sites I purchase from regularly are Elixirs.com, onlynaturalpet.com, and King Bio. I also research info on holisticdog.com and natural-dog-health-remedies.com.

Spend some time online and locate a vet in your area who is not forcing vaccines on you. Also with the threat of West Nile Virus...use probiotics in their food and Bragg's organic apple cider vinegar in their water. There is a remedy called ALL FLU that is a remedy for virus's in general. Elixirs.com also has remedies for WNV.

Being a traditional herbalist, I use many herbal remedies too, especially for our horses. Herbs are another option for you and are sold in glycerin liquid extracts instead of alcohol. Many of them are yucky tasting so I have to give a squirt inside the side of their mouth. If you choose some liquids, buy a plastic dropper at a pet store as not to risk breaking a glass one in their mouth.

Feel free to post to me again. I do this for a living and love to share info.

Thanks Starwolf

Thanks, Starwolf. She was a great dog. If there's a particular link to homeopathic remedies you use I'd like to have it on file.

Homeopathic instead of prescriptions
by: Starwolf

I am so sorry for your loss...for your animals sake...please research homeopathic remedies for animals (and people too). I have used them for decades with excellent success. They are non toxic and non evasive...they are the only remedies in the natural health care field that are regulated and approved by the FDA...it is on their website as approved remedies. The remedies are specific and a little research is needed to pick the one that will be effective for your situation.

I use homeopathic nosodes instead of vaccines; arnica for bruising and swelling; rhus tox when my horse had severe arthritis pain that was better with movement, etc. There is a remedy for everything.

Good luck and again I am so sorry for your loss.
