Dachshund Poodle Mix Information

Designer dogs such as the Dachshund Poodle Mix is just one of the examples of a mixed dog you can get.

First, to explain exactly what a designer dog is. The media has mostly dubbed the term 'designer dog' and it is where two purebreds mix.

A pure breed in this case is basically a dog that has the same sort of traits and features as its father/mother and previous generations had.

Many people prefer a purebred because they know exactly the type of dog they are getting - down to their temperament, intelligence, and any sort of Dog Health problems.

This helps give a somewhat predictable outcome and people can figure out what sort of purebred dog fits their household. If they have an apartment, then having a large dog might not be the best option for them. Same goes for the people who have the safety of their children in mind.

With the hybrids, it greatly depends on what the dog was mixed with. Some breeds are quite predictable when mating with another, and others are the exactly opposite of that. Breeds like the dachshund poodle mix are not that widely known and the results can vary.

Some of these designer mixes have been around for decades, while others have only been around for a couple of years. This means that when you are mixing a purebred with a purebred, you never really know what kind of health concerns your dog might face. As this is all relatively new, the vets will also have a hard time telling you the potential risks.

The best thing he or she could do is probably just give you a guess based on what the parents are susceptible to get. They might suggest some DNA testing, but this is not always accurate.

A dog might have a certain gene that will give him Hip Dysplasia or Elbow Dysplasia, but it does not necessarily mean he will have it.

The dachshund poodle mix, also known as a Doxiepoo, can have varied results. As mentioned above, you can not efficiently prepare your Dog First Aid Kit with this poodle mix.

Both Standard Poodle and Dachshunds share the same kind of temperament. They adore people and like to be the center of attention. Your dog could become more of a digger and have wavy to curly hair.

Dachshunds are known to be hard dogs to train, however it is possible through hard work and consistency. The Poodle is an extremely smart dog, so you might end up with a very clever and fast learning dog.

However, this could actually work against you if your dog has taken up the stubborn dachshund trait. Dachshunds are known to be very hardheaded animals and your dog might find ways to escape or 'forget' your Poodle Training.

If they are the first generation of the dachshund/poodle mix then it is good to look at how their parents behave. If they are second, third, etc generation, then it can be a lot harder to tell how they will act or think.
