Pomeranian Chihuahua Mix Infomation

A Pomeranian Chihuahua Mix is considered a designer hybrid breed. This mix originated in the United States and has not been around that very long.

They are fifty percent Chihuahua and fifty percent Pomeranian. They have several significant nicknames, such as Pomchi, Chi-Pom, and Chiranian.

A mix can range anywhere from 5 to 12 pounds and 5 to 9 inches tall. The Pomeranian Chihuahua mix has the same grooming necessities like a purebred Pomeranian, so Daily Care For Your Dog such as Daily Dog Grooming is needed. The Pomeranian Chihuahua mix will need consistent brushing several times a week.

They can come in many different colors such as black, sable, brown, blue, merle and plain solid colors. Their muzzle is short and pointed such as the Chihuahua breed and the tail is long with a curl over the back. The Pomeranian Chihuahua mix coat can be either single or double layered. The coat normally should appear full and glossy. Their skin is very sensitive so when brushing be sure to be very gentle.

The Pomeranian Chihuahua is very intelligent and social unlike the purebred Chihuahua. They love to be petted and to lie on laps. They are a family dog and excellent with children.

They will bite if mistreated or roughly played with, so keeping an eye on children while playing with your Pomeranian Chihuahua breed is ideal.

They can be hard to housebreak but easy to train to do tricks, so it is very important to stay consistent with training sessions. Their life span can be anywhere from 12 to 18 years. Their characteristics are determined from the Chihuahua or Pomeranian side of the designer breed.

They can be short haired or long haired and regular checkups are required. They rarely have serious health issues but follow up on the parent’s health history to make sure if you’re Pomeranian Chihuahua will be healthy overall. It is always a good idea to have a Dog First Aid kit on hand.

Pomeranians are usually mostly fluffy dogs and shed a lot apposed to the Chihuahua breed.

This dog will become very loyal to its human family. Pomeranian Chihuahua usually will get along very well with other animals and other dogs especially if socialized as a Chihuahua Puppy.

They will need bathing only when necessary and mild shampoo is ideal to keep them from skin irritation. The Pomeranian Chihuahua doesn’t take well to cold temperatures and can develop health issues, so a coat is suggested when taken outside.

They don’t need much Regular Exercise and love to be indoors with their owners as well having short walks outside.

A Pregnant Chihuahua mix can have 3 to 8 puppies a liter.

They do not do well with being left alone for long periods of time and they might develop some Dog Anxiety so it is safe to say that there may be whining when left alone.

Overall the Pomeranian Chihuahua breed is a fun and loving breed and can be the excellent pet you’ve always wanted for you and your family.
